Top Tips On Finding A Reliable Bail Bond Company: Los Angeles

If a friend or loved one has been arrested, you will probably need a reliable bail bond company to help guide you through the bail process.  Here are some tips to keep in mind when choosing a bail bond company.

1.  No Money Down?: If a bail bond company is offering you ‘no money down’, disregard the company.  Bond amount is actually a set fee which is the same across the state.  Thus, these ‘no money down’ companies might have a hidden agenda of you putting down, say...your mortgage instead.
2.  Considering Interest: While bail companies must charge for their services, they are not by law required to charge interest.  Make sure to find a bondsman that doesn’t charge interest.  This way, you won’t be rushed to pay back your loan.
3.  Time and Day: Some bail companies are not 24/7.  Make sure your bondsman is always available.  You want someone who can spring you at 3:30 am and not take two hours to arrive at the jail.
4.  Friendliness: You’ll definitely want someone who is not only friendly, but warm and compassionate.  Jail is a scary place, and you’ll want your bondsman to be as warm and comforting as possible as he helps bail you out.

BailQuote is verified and certified by the California Department of Insurance, and thus, has the right to get you out of jail immediately.  All agents charge a fee for their services, but BailQuote’s fee is the lowest you’ll find anywhere.  The fee is usually around 10 % of your total bail.  Also, at BailQuote, we don’t change an an interest rate, which other companies most certainly will do.  Though the fee is non refundable, as is with all bond companies, our agents go far and above their call of duty to make sure you are comfortable, informed on the bail process, and best yet, out of jail.

How Realistic Is The Bail Process on Television Shows?

For those who frequently watch crime drama shows on TV like CSI, the word “bail” should be a familiar one. But what does it mean when you need ‘bail in real life? How similar is the TV bail process to the one in real life?
Well, they are actually pretty similar. Though the bail process in TV shows is more dramatic and straightforward, the basic policies are the same as in real life. A person who is arrested and booked for a crime will be either granted or denied bail depending on the judge and how serious the crime. Petty crimes like shoplifting and vandalism usually allow bail, but a serious crime like murder typically do not allow bail.
A bail is set by a judge, and just like on TV, the defendant will consult with his or her attorney to persuade the judge to decrease the bail amount, or even release the defendant on his own recognizance (but this is only allowed for relatively minor crimes).
The judge decides on the bail amount after full review of the situation, factors, which includes the bail schedule for a particular locality, the type of crime committed, the criminal history of the defendant, and the risk of the defendant failing to show up for trial. Sometimes, the judge’s personality can play into determination as well.
If you happen to be in such a situation, be calm and polite. Yelling at the judge or police authorities will only increase your bail penalty or even get you denied bail altogether. If you are unable to pay your bail (a typical arson charge can cost you a bail of up to $75,000), call BailQuote.  BailQuote is a bail bonds company that can help pay your bail at any time, any day, even in the middle of the night. Being in the position of a defendant is already intensely stressful; let BailQuote help lessen it by settling your bail.

Under Arrest in The Los Angeles Area: Posting Bail

When you are arrested, getting out of jail is accomplished only by posting bail.  Bail is a cash payment or a piece of property that holds value, which you give to the court to insure that you will show up when ordered to do so.  If you show up when you promised to, whatever you gave as bail is returned to you.

If you have been arrested, you must post bail in order to be freed.  Bail can be paid in a few differing ways.

Paying by cash or check the full amount of your bail
Signing over the temporary rights to property such as a car or a condo
Signing a statement that says you will appear in court, though courts will hardly let you leave jail without some sort of payment
Giving a Bond:  This is the most common way of getting out of jail because some people do not have the money or the property at the time to hand over to the court.  So, a citizen has the right to have a bail bond company pay the bail.  The bonds company is basically lending you the bail.  Bail bond companies will charge about 10% of your total bail to spring you.  But some companies, like BailQuote will not charge interest.  It’s important that you use a bond company that doesn’t charge interest because sometimes, these prices are steep and it might take a while to pay them back in full.
